Day 33 - Nederland
Headed off to Amsterdam this morning. It was a long train ride but I slept the whole way on both trains, which was quite lovely. We went to the hotel quickly to drop off our luggage then went off to central Amsterdam.
The Red Light District is right over yonder. They needed to show it to us so that we wouldn't accidentally go into it. Because that would be quite bad.
Then they let us find lunch. A bunch of us tried to go the Anne Frank house but the line was too long and we didn't have enough time to wait. So we just found some lunch, then headed back out to the train station. We then headed to Haarlem with the group.
We then went into the Frans Hals museum. It was really fun. Seeing his technique up-close is quite the experience. He worked in such a painterly fashion. I really enjoyed it.
Then we went and got frites, which are just fries that are quite taste and come in a paper cone. It is a very Dutch thing.
We went to the Anne Frank House first. It was really cool and a lot bigger than I expected. It was a good experience. There were quotes from her diary around the rooms. She had planned on publishing her diary when the war was over. Her father did it for her. I loved seeing the place where she actually wrote that diary. So cool.
We wanted to eat here, but it was full. Oh well. We found another place to eat. We still got pancakes, but they were really more like crepes. Quite delicious.

I am glad that they showed you where not to go, that probably would have been bad to go in the red light district!
