Day 16 - Special Price

We left early for church this morning, walked for a while, and then caught a bus. Unfortunately, the bus route has been changed since Dr. Johnson was here last, so it took some time before he finally spotted the church building. But he did and we went in, just a few minutes late. Sacrament was first, in Italian, so they had someone go up and translate for us since we came in such a substantial number. It was very nice. Then the same lady who translated taught a special english sunday school, just for us. She didn't seem put-upon, she was actually pretty happy, I think. Then to Relief Society. This was a little different. They put all of us on one side of the room and all the Italians on the other side, then had a sister missionary on our side to translate. It was pretty good, but the missionary didn't have as much practice translating, so it didn't have very much feeling in it. But that's okay; everything was great!

After church, we wandered around Florence. It is a very beautiful city, full of life. We also walked along the river and I got some great pictures.

Houses along the river.
Ponte Vecchio, a bridge lined with an assortment of shops. This is where we went next.

After that, we headed to the monastery on the hill to get a great view of the city.

San Miniato monastery.
Florence.

The city at night.
Claire, Elisabeth, Me, Tabitha.

We walked back to the hotel after soaking up the atmosphere for a while.

It really is a very beautiful city.
