Day 15 - The Davids

First museum today was the Museo del Bargello.

Couldn't take pictures inside, but I did see works by Michelangelo, Donatello, and others. The most famous pieces are the davids, one by Donatello, one by Verrocchio.

Then off to San Lorenzo where the Medici Chapel is.
No pictures inside, but we did see Night, Day, Dawn, and Dusk by Michelangelo. Pretty awesome.

Back outside to find the Medici palace.

And there it is. There are several buildings that look similar to this in Florence, but only the Medici palace has the perfect integration of the three different stone types to show the different floors of the house (rusticated stone-for the public and utilitarian purposes, jointed bricks-meetings and parties, smooth stone-where the family lived). I like it.

Then to Galleria dell'Accademia. No pictures there either, but what we did see was Michelangelo's David in all his glory. Really awesome. And also pretty much the only item in the museum so it didn't take very long.

Class was over after that, so we decided to journey into the leather market. It is such a cool place. Nothing tempts me, but it is fun to look at it all. When we got back to the hotel, we went to Grotto di Leo for dinner. Delicious!

That's all :) More pictures tomorrow, hopefully.
