Study Abroad

Back in June, I applied for the Study Abroad program in France during the Winter semester of 2010. Well, just a few days ago, I was contacted via email by the head of the program, Dr. Ricks, and we set up an interview. Well that interview was today and after asking me a few questions, he told me that I was accepted into the program! So I will spend my 19th birthday in Paris, France!! Wow. I'm so so excited!! I will have plenty of favorites from France to post come wintertime!

Oh my goodness Ariel!!! That is so exciting! I can't believe you will get to be in PARIS for your 19th birthday!!!

Will you get to meet anyone else going before you actually go?

I can't wait to hear and read all about your favorites in FRANCE!!!

Thanks!! I am so excited! We will all meet each other a few months before because we have to take a "preparation" class for a term. So we should know each other pretty well by then!

Day 21 - Class, Louvre, FHE

Class was good today. I had French 102 and Religion. Not bad. After that, I headed to the Louvre with Haley and Chelsea. I didn't bring my SLR with me because it wouldn't fit, so I took my point and shoot. Wow. What a difference. I knew I loved my SLR, but not I really love my SLR! I didn't take any good pictures, but I'll tell you that I did see Charles I Dismounted by Van Dyck. That was pretty exciting. I love to see paintings that I recognize. After we chilled at the Louvre for a while, we headed out (well, we lost Chelsea and found Richard) to the Ricks' place. We were a little early so we went to see the Eiffel Tower. We saw it all lit up. It was pretty awesome. Then off to the Ricks'. We played a charade-type game for FHE and it was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed myself. Day 54 - Dernier Jour

Last day in Paris! I can't believe it. I'm sure gonna miss this place. Ali, Shamra, Mckell, Claire and I headed out to the city this morning. First stop was the Opera house. I finally got to see the inside this time! Beautiful. We had some fun :) Then we went to Berko's, the wonderful cheesecake place. It wasn't open and it was 11:35. We thought they wouldn't open until 12 but as we were sitting there waiting, they opened the doors! Yay! I got creme brulee cheesecake. Oh it was divine. This is one of the things I will miss most about Paris! Love it. Then Claire and I went to the Jewish museum. It was pretty interesting. I couldn't take many pictures. Then off to the Promenade Plantee. It was a really beautiful walk. I like this flower. It's weird. Then we walked back to the metro. It was quite a long walk so we were very tired! Day 57 - Thrift Shopping Success

Classes were good today. We got our tests back in French. I am really happy with my score! Yay :) Then in Music, we talked about Stravinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps . It is very interesting. Look it up on YouTube, if you have the time. It is considered a ballet, but it is very different than usual ballets. Après ca, a few of us went thrift shopping. I found an awesome dress! I am really happy with it. When I first saw it, I didn't like it very much. But when I tried it on, I loved it! I wish my host mom was here so she could wash it for me (she does our laundry), but I guess I'll have to figure something else out. I'm excited to wear it! After we thrift-shopped ourselves out, we got some absolutely wonderful gelato. It was so good and it didn't even make my stomach hurt! Hoorah! A demain :D
