Favorites along the way

Image
So I know I'll never catch up on my favorites and I am not going to try. I'll probably start over when I go to France. We'll see. Anyway, I just have some pictures that I have been taking that I thought I would share. Not that interesting, but it's what I have :) A little gross, but I was up for half the night coughing and blowing my nose. This picture, and a sympathetic French teacher during my oral exam, is what I have to show for it :) Mom brought me some jello when I had the stomach flu a week or so ago so she could make some blender jello for me. She left two packages and I made them up today. I made 4 cups and I consumed all 4 cups! It is so good! (And this was my first time making blender jello). I put up Christmas lights a couple weeks ago. I didn't put very much tape on them so they ended up falling down. So I put more tape on them and they fell down again. I tried putting more tape on and they just ended up falling down again. Then I just put big strips of

European Art History Study Abroad

Since many have already found out, I thought I talk about it here :) A few weeks ago, I had an interview for an Art History specific study abroad in Europe. Honestly, I did not think I would get accepted into the program. I was told that at that point, over 60 people had applied and more were still applying. They only have room for 24. Well a week or so ago, I heard back from them and they said I was accepted! It just seems so perfect. Even though I am only a freshman, I was picked! So it is pretty exciting. I will leave around the 26th of April (I get back from France on the 17th of April) to Greece. Then we will go to Italy, Austria, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Belgium. Classes will finish in France. Then I will be back home around the 17th of June! Really crazy, but I am SO excited! I just can't believe it's real. In case you are interested, we will be going to Athens, Rome, Florence, Ravenna, Venice, Vienna, Melk, London, Amsterdam, the Hague, Ghent, Haarlem, Br

Chargé

So sorry for those who like to read my blog, but I just don't have a lot of time to update! Even as we speak, I should be finishing the outlines for my art history midterm, writing a composition in French, and writing an annotated bibliography on a research paper for which I have found about 2 sources (I need 8). Awesome. If anyone wants to bring me cookies, please do.

Acne Cream

Image
My Favorite Things #43/365 I LOVE this stuff! I just put a thin layer on a zit and within a day or two, it is gone. I also put it in other areas to keep zits from coming and they pretty much stay away. The tube on the right lasted me around two years! It really is great stuff. It's about $7, but when you think about how long it lasts, that really isn't a big price to pay. I recommend it 110%.

My Roommates

Image
My Favorite Things #42/365 Tonight, my roommate Reesa made no-bake cookies for her boyfriend Josiah, who is in the MTC. Just a little insight into what really goes into these cookies! An entire stick of butter with two cups of sugar. Yum... Mixing in the peanut butter and cocoa. With Oatmeal. No-bake cookies! This is Reesa. This is Reesa's heart-shaped cookie for Josiah. This is my room-roommate Taalin, eating a delicious no-bake cookie.

Plasma today

So I knew I had a busy day ahead of me so I decided to do plasma in the morning. I got up at 6 am (well 5:30 because my mind likes to wake me up before I actually planned to get up...), got ready, and headed to PCCI. It was a little slow, but I finally got called into the booth for screening. There were some changes to the AIDS bulletin so I was asked a few questions (the ones they ask you when you are a new donor). I finished that and right as I was about to sign it, the lights went out. The girl screening me told me to go out and sit down until they figured it out. Well it turns out the whole block is out, even the main street-lights by the mall (glad I wasn't a part of that mess). Luckily, no one had been poked yet. One guy was in the back and was 2 seconds away from being poked when the lights went out. The reason for them being slow this morning was because it was too cold in the building to get everything started. If it had been warm enough, several people might have been stu

Fresh Spaghetti

Image
My Favorite Things #41/365 Nothing can beat spaghetti right out of the pot with butter and salt. Mmm... Since I've moved out, I have had spaghetti every other day pretty much. I love it! And as I was searching through pictures, I found this. Mel might be mad, but I think it is hilarious!!

iPod Clock/Alarm/Radio/Charger/etc...

Image
My Favorite Things #40/365 I got this iPod dock for my birthday this year. It is great! It plays music from my iPod with clear sound that can go higher than I'd ever want it to go. It also play the radio. I use it every morning to wake me up. Waking up to the Mario theme song is fine (on my phone), but it really is so much better to be woken up by a different song each morning. It also charges my iPod, which I don't really need since I only listen to it on this dock (because Andy stole my earphones...). Oh, and it tells me the time :)

Ominous Weather

Image
Finally I have some time to post! This week I had an essay exam for Art History 202, a four part (listening, CIQ, oral, and written) exam for French 101, and my personal narrative to extensively revise for Honors 150. Wooh. But I think I am pretty much done for the week. Huzzah! Now to my favorite... My Favorite Things #39/365 I woke up this morning and without even looking outside, I knew it was rainy. I love how beautiful everything is when it is/has been raining. So fresh and clean. We even got some snow on the mountains!

Ordinateur Portable

Image
My Favorite Things #38/365 I have had this laptop since I was 14 years old. I cease to be amazed at how long it has lasted! The keys don't look like they've hardly been used (even though they have been used A LOT) and it has rarely given me any trouble! It is very useful to have the laptop here at my apartment. I use it every day. I don't know what I would do without it!! It isn't very portable, but that's alright. I don't really want to take notes in class on a computer, so there really isn't any need to move it, at least not for now.

The "Dating Menu"

Image
My Favorite Things #37/365 This is the ward directory for the 192nd ward (my ward). There are so many people in my ward! Sometimes I am not sure if I'm in the right place because there are a lot of people that I don't recognize still. In the directory, they included everyone's name, email, address, and phone number. The Bishop really wants us to date :) PS My picture is the third one down on the left side. Just in case you wanted to know :)

Plasma

Image
My Favorite Things #36/365 Plasma is a great way, for me at least, to earn money. For those of you who don't know (which I pretty sure everyone does, but that's okay) how it works, I will explain. First, I sign in. Then I wait in the lobby area for maybe 45 minutes to an hour (if it's really busy). Then they call me into a booth. They do some tests (weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, hematocrit, and protein) and if you are good on all those, they ask you the questions (Have you read the AIDS bulletin? Have you had close contact with hepatitis? etc). Then you wait for anywhere between 10-20 minutes to be called to the back. A phlebotomist will then prep you and stick you. It doesn't hurt too bad. Plus, you get used to it quickly. I think so anyway. Then you sit there while your blood is drawn and centrifuged. The red blood cells are returned to you and the plasma goes into a clear cylindrical container. It takes me around 45-50 minutes to do this. So overall, it

My Keychain

Image
My Favorite Things #35/365 On my keychain, I have a broken lanyard that I got from seminary, a pocket knife I got from the Petrified Forest gift shop, a lighter that I got asked to homecoming with, a broken clicker to my car, the key to my apartment, a thing from maverick that I've never used, the key to my bike lock, the key to my car, the key to start my car (why they made the keys separate, I will never know...), the key to Grandma's, the key to our house, and a metal thing I got from BYU for getting a scholarship. I think my keys say a lot about me. Don't you think?

Art History

Image
My Favorite Things #34/365 I definitely picked the right major. I love this class! Even when I'm nodding off in Chem 111, I am wide awake in this class, even though it is just a half an hour later. The teacher is enthusiastic; she wants us to learn and to understand. The text is great! It does not read like a textbook. I think it is so interesting (of course, I'm a bit biased). This class is my longest one (an hour and 15 minutes whereas the other 4 are 50 minutes a piece), which is good. I'm very thankful that I was able to find something that I love!

My Bathroom

Image
My Favorite Things #33/365 Last, but not least, there is the bathroom. Nothing real exciting there, but I do really like it. I thought it would be hard to move all my stuff from two cabinets to one drawer, but it worked out just fine!

My Living Room/Dining Room/Kitchen

Image
My Favorite Things #32/365 Wyview really is great! There is more than enough room for the three of us! The couches are comfy, the sink is big, and so much more! I really like it here.

My Bedroom

Image
My Favorite Things #31/365 It's a little cluttered, but it is very comfortable! It is a great place for me to study and get things done. My area Very handy computer desk! Decently comfortable bed with portable drawers underneath Good sized closet with more portable drawers Not a great picture, but this is the view outside my window.

Living close to home

Image
My Favorite Things #30/365 Though I like being able to be independent in my apartment, I do love being less than 15 minutes away from home! When I forget things, as I have done several times already, I can just run home and grab it (well not usually until the weekend). Also, I don't need to buy food because we have a store house at home! Chips, Popcorn, etc. Stouffer's frozen food, popsicles, and frozen gogurts. Yum! Something else that is nice about being close to home is that I can come home to see my family! I should have brought my camera yesterday, but I was playing with Abi all night! It was so much fun :)

Classes

My Favorite Things #29/365 No pictures for this one, sorry. But I do have to say that I am grateful that I don't have all of my classes everyday! Though it is difficult to have both Chem 111 and French 101 every single day, I can survive it. I could not survive having all 5 classes each and every day!

Background

Just a quick question. Can everyone still see my pink/black/white/gray/whatever background? Because BYU has blocked pyzam.com from my computer so I can't see it and it is just gray. But if it is all cute to everyone else, I'm okay with that :) Let me know!

"Homemade" Mirror

Image
My Favorite Things #28/365 Mirror: $5, Hooks that hook over the door: $2.44, Ribbon: $0.47, Getting exactly (mostly) what you want and accomplishing a goal: Priceless :) The Finished Product The braided ribbon tied through two holes I made in the back. Hope it holds! The hooks and the braided ribbon The reason why I did it. In Springville, I had four mirrors surrounding me when I did my hair. Crunching that down to one was a bit difficult for me. When I straightened my hair, I used my compact as a mirror to see the back of my head. It worked, but it wasn't very efficient. It was so awesome to be able to use my contraption this morning!!

Study Abroad

Back in June, I applied for the Study Abroad program in France during the Winter semester of 2010. Well, just a few days ago, I was contacted via email by the head of the program, Dr. Ricks, and we set up an interview. Well that interview was today and after asking me a few questions, he told me that I was accepted into the program! So I will spend my 19th birthday in Paris, France!! Wow. I'm so so excited!! I will have plenty of favorites from France to post come wintertime!

Primary

Image
My Favorite Things #27/365 For a couple months during the summer, I had the opportunity to teach one of the CTR 6 primary classes in my ward. It was all boys!! These kids drove me crazy, but it was so much fun to teach them! (Two of them, Jacob and Beau, are not pictured) Ben Coy Travis Tiago Sis Peterson's CTR 6 class
